Jusqu'à récemment, le sinus maxillaire ne préoccupait les ORL et chirurgiens maxillo-faciaux qu’à travers les pathologies et les traumatismes qui l’atteignaient. L'avènement et la reconnaissance de l'implantologie orale ont conduit les cliniciens à s’intéresser à ce qui était considéré comme un obstacle anatomique lacunaire. Le secteur maxillaire postérieur présente souvent une insuffisance volumique d’os alvéolaire n’autorisant pas l’ancrage et le positionnement implantaires dans des conditions satisfaisantes. Cette difficulté a incité les implantologistes précurseurs à rechercher des techniques novatrices permettant d’augmenter le support d’implantation. Les possibilités offertes par la chirurgie d'élévation du sinus maxillaires démultiplient les indications de réhabilitation implantaire. De nos jours, il existe de nombreuses techniques de rehaussement du plancher sinusien. Cet ouvrage propose d’explorer les protocoles reconnus comme fiables et reproductibles, et définir clairement ce que la littérature et les instances scientifiques cautionnent et valident. Il s’adresse aux professionnels de santé et étudiants impliqués dans la sphère oro-faciale et soucieux de trouver des réponses aux questions essentielles concernant cette thérapeutique pré-prothétique d’élévation sinusienne.
